Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri has been a popular Indian actress who has gained fame for her role in the film Hum Aapke Hin Koun as well as Beta Saajan. In the 1980s the actress began her acting career. She became popular with the role of Tezaab, in which she starred alongside the veteran actor Anil Kapooor. The next film she appeared in was Dil where she shared screen space with Aamir. In the beginning, as a girl growing up in Mumbai's middle class she learned to dance. As a teen, she attempted acting, but most of her early movies failed. Her breakthrough came when she finally had success and then was one of the top actresses within the Indian film business. The actress took a hiatus from acting after her wedding before returning to the industry of entertainment. In the last few years, Dixit was a key player as a character in Gulaab Gang a movie about the struggle of Indian women. Dixit was nominated fifteen times to win Filmfare Awards. She won eight of them. The actress was also honoured with her Padma Shri the fourth highest civilian honour in India. Also, she has earned a name for social activism.
